2017 Year in Review

Well folks 2017 has been a tumultuous year here on planet earth, with abundant disasters both natural and human. However, for EQR 2017 has been a year of challenges met and challenges overcome. From living shorelines to stream restoration to green roofs, we’ve found a way to excel in formidable conditions. In retrospect, what we’ve accomplished in the past year is nothing short of amazing.

What we do is a complex and demanding discipline. We work where water flows, in nearly inaccessible reaches and gullies, in the soft marshes, guts, and swamps of unfathomable depth, in tangles of urban infrastructure, in sweltering heat and freezing cold. Mother Nature has no regard for our plans, no sympathy for our schedules, but time and time again we prove that EQR ingenuity, stewardship, and work ethic is unmatched. We work hard, we work smart, and learn from our experiences.

I’m so proud of our team here at EQR and excited to see the way we take on the many challenges ahead of us in 2018. We already have a some very exciting projects on the schedule for the coming months, and we know there are more projects out there that only EQR can excel at building. We are getting better at what we do every single day and the opportunities abound for us in the new year.

Looking back it we’ve accomplished so much, yet there’s so much to be done. In spite of the epic restoration efforts underway in the MidAtlantic, we are a long way from a restored Chesapeake Bay, and countless challenges lie ahead. Luckily, I know EQR is ready to meet them.

Congratulations to all in the ecological restoration world for your accomplishments in 2017, and I wish you brilliance in overcoming your challenges in 2018.

Happy New Year,

Liam O’Meara
