Who we are
Our History:
Environmental Quality Resources, LLC (EQR) was founded in 1991 as an environmental construction and landscaping company, specializing in stream restoration and reforestation. Since then we have expanded our scope of construction services to include, freshwater and tidal wetland creation, and mitigation, shoreline and dune restoration, low impact development, and stormwater management facilities. Working in these demanding environments for over 25 years has given EQR unmatched experience in successfully completing projects in environmentally sensitive areas (ESAs).
Our Experience:
EQR has performed over 100 miles of stream restoration, often in sensitive watersheds and habitats. Completion of stream work requires site stakeout, sediment and erosion control, stream diversions and bypass pumping, excavation and grading, stream realignment, bank stabilization, construction of stone and log grade control structures, soil stabilization and site re-vegetation. EQR has also created or restored over 1400 acres of wetlands requiring extensive excavation and grading, sediment and erosion control, construction of stone and concrete outflow structures, earthen berms, and ditch plugs, as well as installation of native plants and trees to restore sensitive habitats. As a Maryland based company we have also done shoreline work along both the Eastern and Western Shores of the Chesapeake Bay from Pennsylvania to Chesapeake Virginia, including the dynamic tidal zones of its’ tributaries. Most of these projects occur in ESAs, or are performed under adverse site conditions. Completing these projects with minimal harm to the environment requires technical expertise, regulatory awareness and environmental sensitivity is our top priority.

Our work is not restricted to natural areas and park settings; our experience has also brought us into suburban/urban areas of our state to help address water quality/quantity issues. Since 1997, EQR has been building bioretention facilities and LID projects. Under contract with local governments EQR has converted and/or retrofitted outdated stormwater BMPs into facilities that promote improved water quality and to help meet various permit (MS4, NPDES, etc.) requirements.
EQR’s Natural Resources Division specializes in site stabilization, habitat restoration, and management of sensitive ecosystems. Working in close coordination with the construction division prevents delays in restoration and promotes vigorous re-establishment of ecological function. Restoration projects include planting, final soil stabilization, and managing native species in a variety of settings. EQR’s maintenance programs, integrated pest management strategies, and invasive species control procedures ensure a complete recovery of disturbed systems.
