EQR was recently featured in the Casper Star Tribune for our work on the Popo Agie River (pronounced puh-POE-zha) Trout Habitat Restoration Project in Lander, Wyoming.

The Popo Agie is a popular recreational spot and needed improvements for years; past flooding and extensive de-watering for agricultural use had widened the stream bed limiting trout habitat and elevating water temperatures. In addition to being bad for the river’s resident trout, the warmer water contributed to outbreaks of E. coli which caused public interaction with the water to be restricted.
Working closely with Intermountain Aquatics (stream designer), Wyoming Fish & Game, Trout Unlimited, and the City of Lander, EQR installed stream structures along 2,200 feet of river that will improve trout habitat, water quality and temperature concerns. The Project has been considered a huge success, prompting discussion of continuing restoration for 5 additional river miles.
