This is Stormwater:

I get the question all the time: "what is stormwater?" And the stormwater fee is constantly conflated with the misnomer "rain tax". So, I know very well that it's hard for the general public to understand what the difference between rain and stormwater is.
Thankfully, the Blizzard Jonas has provided us with a clear and stark example of the difference. Just look at those piles of nasty gray snow piled up along roadways and parking lots. That's stormwater!
That bright white snow covering fields and forests, picturesque and pure? That's the equivalent of rain.
All that gray snow you see is just a tiny fraction of the stormwater our community generates via a storm like Jonas. Imagine what you see in the snow piles added to all of the water that travels across our constructed landscapes picking up all kinds of pollutants along the way. Then you'll get a good idea of what stormwater really is, and the size of the challenge it presents.
It all ends up in our waterways, and EQR is working hard to make sure the impacts of stormwater get smaller all the time.
Enjoy the white stuff while it lasts.
Best,
Liam
